Pioneering Spaces For Women
Cummari’s Concept
Thoughtful stays and experiences for travelers, creatives, and digital nomads—designed by a community minded woman who truly gets it.
In 2020, Cummari® was founded by - Michelle Titus (aka Miche), a feminine anthropologist and community builder living on Volcano Etna — obsessed with matriarchal and Sicilian history.
Previously, from 2006 to 2019, she worked around the world —first as an international correspondent, then as the Co-founder of female-led publishing companies—moving every four months and living in temporary housing. Along the way, she dreamed of spaces intentionally designed for women vs. the generic white and grey corporate flats without a soul.
When life out of a suitcase began to lose its charm and capitalism nearly crushed her soul — she shifted her entire life and eventually founded Cummari in 2020.
Since opening its doors, Cummari has become Europe’s pioneering female-focused and inclusive coliving project, welcoming guests from around the globe. What began as a coliving and coworking space known for its inspiring art filled rooms has evolved into a vast array of revolutionary experiences both in Sicily and online —many co-created with former guests who are helping to do the work of building intentional community.
In 2025, Cummari entered a new chapter with the opening of its expanded home in the seaside village of Riposto, Sicily. Set within a beautifully restored 19th-century fisherman’s house, the space was reimagined in collaboration with Sicilian architect Igor Grippaldi of BASICO.
The renovation honors the building’s heritage while introducing a contemporary, feminine sensibility—further enriched by one-of-a-kind works from international female artists. Today, it stands as a thoughtfully crafted environment where history, design, and women’s creative expression meet
Inclusivity
Cummari spirit is in memory of my Aunt Bertie (photo), finally spaces where your often rejected, wild and big love heart would have been welcomed.
Cummari is an inclusive environment. Historically many groups of people especially persons who identify as female or nonbinary, have not always been/felt safe when travelling solo and for this reason we prioritize such persons as our guests. With that being said, all genders and identities are welcomed and are vital to supporting Cummari's vision and existence.
We ask those who join us to respect our ethos, to keep a safe place for all, regardless of ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, abilities or gender.
If you are interested in our reparations program recognising systemic injustices, you can email Michelle for information.

Cummari’s Founder
Ciao, I’m Miche and this is a small piece of my story…
Through a strong desire to create a life unlike that I had seen growing up and with many leaps of faith, I have built for myself a purposeful life and global community. I’ve lived and worked around the world an international correspondent and female founder, soaking in diverse cultures and perspectives —from Belgium to Turkey, Finland to Malaysia. You could definitely call me an “old-school” digital nomad—I embraced remote work in 2006 while reporting for Hong Kong, long before smartphones revolutionized travel.
In 2010, I took one of my boldest leaps and launched an international publishing company in China, where I served as Co-Founder for a decade as the business expanded across Europe, Asia and the Americas led by an all female team.
In 2019, driven by a desire to align my work more deeply, I sold my company and shifted my focus. That shift became Cummari—a purpose-driven business and a way to pay it forward to other women seeking a space to find inspiration.
Based full time in Sicily for seven years, I focus my energy on Cummari and matriarchal anthropology studies. With great passion I co-created with seven women a 12 month online program following the seasons - The Women’s Almanac. I am the co-founder of Zingarelle di Sicilia an international women's community in Sicily and I am a co-founder of Nomadic Sicily, an international festival for entrepreneurs highlighting innovation & creativity in Sicily.
My work with Cummari has introduced me to the most interesting and kind hearted women — they inspired me to continue on with fighting the good fight to create safe spaces and meaningful discussions for the collective.
Vive la révolution!
