Best cafes to work from in Catania

Beautiful places of Catania
Il Gran Caffe Lorenti of Catania - The first cafe in Catania to offer ice cream cones and in the 1930s became the center "fashion scene." In 1942 it was destroyed by a bomb during WWII and sadly never reopened.

If you want to venture outside of Cummari's coworking spaces, we recommend the following cafes in Catania. This list offers a combination of delicious treats, wifi and excellent people watching.

1. At the top of our list is Verso Coffice Catania. Verso stole our hearts first, as when we moved back to Sicily from Milano in 2019, Verso is where we went to focus on building our dreams of Cummari. Verso has delicious cornetti (vegan to chocolate croissants), lots plugs for charging, strong wifi in a gorgeous art deco inspired space. The best part, is there is plenty of seating indoors or on the terrace, and it even has a quiet working room where you can reserve a desk for 4 hours for only 2 euro.

Recommended for working in groups or solo, enjoying breakfast, lunch or aperitivo. A small downside is that it is a tiny bit north of central Catania, but still only 20 minutes by walk from Cummari and the historic district. Verso's address on Google Maps

2. Next on our list is Punto Concept Store. Punto is a cafe, store and gallery all rolled into one. The wifi and coffee are strong, and the little complimentary cookies they serve with your drink are delicious. Punto is on the “fashion” street of Catania, so if you can get a table outside you can have the feeling of Milan in Sicily. While at Punto, you might be tempted to buy a funky Sicilian designer t-short or book on architecture.

Recommended for working solo or in a pair, enjoying breakfast, lunch or aperitivo. The downside of Punto is that it can be very busy mid day and can hard to find a seat. Punto's address on Google Maps

3. Third on our list is Caffè Opera. Caffè Opera is a classic, local cafe through and through, with a menu full of Sicilian treats savory and sweet. It is a large cafe with many tables inside and outside to choose from. The best feature of all, is that it is a few steps in front of the gorgeous and historic Teatro Massimo Bellini. The owners are a lovely couple that make you feel like a valued customer, even if you are only ordering a one euro espresso. There is free wifi as well!

4. Fourth on our list is Teapot Caffetteria. Teapot feels like a secret garden. It has flowers everywhere and always smells like a mix of vanilla and fruit. This cafe is unique for Catania (and for Sicily) as it offers savory breakfasts. Here you will find the American Brunch and English Breakfast that so many travellers crave while far away from home.

Recommended for working solo, enjoying breakfast or lunch. The downside is the tables are bit small for a lap top, so it can be hard to stay a long time. You may need to use your own hotspot for reliable wifi. Teapot's address on Google Maps

If none of the above piques your interest... you are welcome to stay and work at Cummari - where coffee, tea and pasta are complementary and unlimited!

Yes, that is right, pasta too. Cummari's kitchen keeps pasta and sauce (salsa pomodoro) on hand for those too busy to think about shopping or ordering takeaway. What kind of Sicilian coworking space would Cummari be if we didn’t offer unlimited pasta?

The only downside of Cummari is our boutique coworking space is limited and it is often fully booked!
